Valorant players have been hearing the word “Sabine” for quite some time now. It is mentioned in the name quite frequently. But who is she really? Is she a new agent? Is it a code name? In this article, we will look for possible answers to all these questions.
The in-game evidence suggests that Sabine is not a new agent. On the Reddit thread, there were plenty of suggestions that Sabine is a leaked name of an upcoming character. Since it is mentioned by the current roster. Many believed that Sabine was a vampire. But that spot has been filled by Reyna since she is officially the vampiric agent.
Valorant agents keep mentioning “Sabine”
The developers of Valorant have promised that they will release more backstory and lore in the future acts of the game. Yet at the time of this writing, the information is quite limited. The devs say that the first lore will arrive in Episode 2. The game currently in Episode 1 Act 2, which will end in late October. So the lore of the maps and agents is not very much updated.
It is not surprising at all to see Valorant players confused about Sabine. An agent by the name of Vipers mentioned the name in her voice lines. Just before the barrier goes down, she says, I’m coming for you, Sabine”. She also mentions her name, when the player moves across the map in search of the enemy.
Another agent, Omen, has mentioned Sabine a lot. He frequently says that Sabine didn’t kill for experiments, instead, she used them for healing. He only says this stuff when he has Viper in his team.
There is not plenty of information about Viper’s origin. But Omen is the one that keeps intel on his friends as well as enemies. So it makes sense why he might know about the character more than others.
Valorant lore theories by fans and players
There are plenty of threads on Reddit that say that Omen and Viper were married in the past. This could be another reason why Omen knows so much about Viper compared to the players as well as other agents. But the truth will only be revealed when Valorant releases the official lore of the agents.
Meanwhile, some fans are really confident that Omen uses the word Sabine as a reference to Viper. Since in the game’s code, there is a line of Omen, “Don’t die here, Sabine. I need your secrets”. He only says it when Viper is an ally and the code of this line is stored in the file “Play_VO_Omen_MatchStartAlly_Viper_0.”
But some fans have also claimed that they have heard Sabine lines in the absence of Viper. Only time will tell the actual answer to the question, which will be answered in Episode 2 in October. In the meantime, all we can do is go through the threads and read about the interesting fan theories about the character.
